By our count, The Invasion is the third “official” remake of the classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the iconic 1956 film that has also inspired numerous unofficial pod people-type flicks. This one is a mixed bag, which isn’t too surprising considering its troubled production. It was a typical “creative differences” situation, with the studio and director not seeing eye-to-eye on what kind of movie they were making. Eventually V for Vendetta director James McTeigue was hired to oversee several days of reshoots, and The Invasion finally reached theaters in 2007, a year after its original planned release date.
