Like fellow classic sci-fi character Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon enjoyed a return to the limelight in the late 1970s after Star Wars made sci-fi cool (or at least profitable) again. Flash got a terrific feature film featuring Max Von Sydow and a Queen soundtrack, and he also got this Saturday morning animated TV show (sometimes referred to as The New Animated Adventures of Flash Gordon which is a very long title) from Filmation, who also produced the 1973 animated Star Trek show. Like the 1980 feature film, the Flash cartoon stays fairly true to the plot of the original Flash Gordon serials from the 1930s.
