Space: 1999

Created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson

1975 • TV-14 • English • 60 min.

The moon (yes, the entire moon) breaks free from earth’s gravity and goes on a wild ride through space, taking the occupants of Moonbase Alpha along for the trip in this Gerry Anderson production that was originally developed as a sequel to his UFO series. Its production design and special effects make it one of the best-looking TV shows of all time and, along with Star Trek: The Motion Picture, the definitive example of what “The Future” looked like in the late 1970s.

Cast: Martin Landau, Barbara Bain, Catherine Schell
