Back to the Future
Directed by Robert Zemeckis
1985 • PG • English • 116 min.
Possibly the most 1980s movie of the 1980s, because not only does it feature Huey Lewis (on the soundtrack and in a cameo acting role), a DMC DeLorean, and star Michael J. Fox’s very 1980s wardrobe, it sends its hero back in time to the 1950s, so the movie can go all-in on the 1950s nostalgia that was all the rage in the 80s. It was a huge hit, which isn’t too surprising because it’s smart, fun, and funny. It is also occasionally weird and kinky, things we don’t often see in tentpole movies these days.
Cast: Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover
