Arguably the greatest example of director Michael Bay’s infamous “Bayhem” filmmaking technique, Armagededdon was one of two Lucifer’s Hammer-type movies that hit theaters in 1998 — the other being Deep Impact. Bay’s is the more action-oriented of the two, of course, featuring a team of oil drillers trained to be astronauts so they can fly to the earth-threatening asteroid and blow it up with nukes (that must be planted deep inside the asteroid via drilling).
