Battlestar Galactica (2003)

Battlestar Galactica

Developed for Television by Ronald D. Moore

2003 • TV-14 • English • 60 min.

It doesn’t happen often, but occasionally the remake is better than the original. Case in point is the 2003 edition of Battlestar Galactica. Showrunner Ronald D. Moore, who had worked on the fan-favorite Star Trek spin-off Deep Space Nine, rethought the Galactica story as a commentary on the United States’ post-9/11 “War on Terror.” The show has its cake and eats it, too, by keeping the evil robot Cylons from the original series while adding new evil Cylons that look just like humans. Paranoia ensues in a show that manages to be both more serious and more fun than the 1978 edition.

Cast: Katee Sackhoff, Tricia Helfer, James Callas, Edward James Olmos
